Synergy Between Marketing & Sales to Dominate Your Market

When the marketing team and sales team work in unison, feedback flows freely in both directions, products & services are launched that fit the market at the right time and a company grows. Greg Martinelli, with Ag Sales Professionals, will cover some common disconnects between marketing and sales that occur over time. He will also cover ways to recognize and prevent them.

Greg Martinelli is a Sales Coach, Consultant & Trainer who works with Agriculture companies to dramatically increase sales productivity, profits and ultimately dominate their market. He spent the last 25 years developing sales teams across the Midwest that focused on the feed and grain business for both national & international markets. He runs Ag Sales Professionals, focusing on high engagement and high productivity, which lead to higher profits and increased market share for the sales teams he works with.

Need Help Putting Together Effective Leadership?

Written by NAMA on Thursday, November 2, 2017 , 2:22 pm

Make sure you are presenting the role in terms of time to prospective board members. Starting off the conversation with a simple question, “Can you commit 2 hours a month?” Be as accurate as possible on your time estimate and be clear about the responsibilities of the position.

For committees that require a lot of time, such as Chapter Programs, why not have two co-chairs rather than one chair? If you have any questions or concerns about adding members to your board, please contact Debbie Brummel at the National NAMA office for assistance.

Midsouth Chapter Event

Written by NAMA on Thursday, November 2, 2017 , 2:22 pm
As the slogan says, “Go west, young man”!  For us in November, that means Jonesboro, Arkansas.

The November program will be a special one, as it is designed to increase our presence and outreach to our folks across the river.  Terry Simmons & TJ Thompson, two of the newer MidSouth members, will host the chapter for this full-day summit.

The special guests this day are the faculty and students of the Arkansas State University College of Agriculture and Technology. The chapter hopes to make these students more aware of careers in the broader field of agriculture as well as cultivate the University’s interest in starting a Student NAMA chapter. At this meeting, students will have an opportunity to interact with professionals and learn about our roles in the industry.

Activities include:

  • 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. – openings and introductions from Ty Keller, A-State Innovate Director; Lesley Landry, President of the Mid-South NAMA Chapter; and Terry Simmons, of the AgWatch Network.
  • 11:00 a.m. – Feature presentation from Terry Simmons covering Jonesboro and Northeast Arkansas agriculture, careers in agriculture, and how ag media provides producers with a vital service.
  • 12:00 p.m. – Buffet Style Lunch, courtesy of Sue’s Kitchen in Jonesboro.  Door prize drawings to be held.
  • 1:00 p.m. – ASU Student /NAMA member mingling
  • 2 p.m. – NAMA members will gather at the AgWatch Studios for dessert and happy hour, along with a tour of the studio and an interactive discussion of the future of ag media and advertising. Members will have unlimited time for fellowship and refreshments after the discussion.

Midsouth NAMA Visits UT-Martin

Written by NAMA on Thursday, November 2, 2017 , 2:22 pm

On October 25, Midsouth NAMA traveled to Martin, TN to visit their student chapter. In attendance were Lesley Landry and Amy Sharp (Sullivan Branding), Dave Rhylander (consultant, retired Monsanto), Darrah Pierce (Farm Progress) and Buddy Pierce (Darrah’s husband and Louisiana farmer).

Upon arrival, the group was greeted by Dr. Racha Tewari, professor and NAMA team liaison who gave attendees a tour of the department and then visited a class. Students discussed two ideas currently being vetted by the teams in the hopes of selecting one to compete in April.

Following the class session, the professional members joined Carol Reed, Executive Director of the Northwest TN Entrepreneur Center. She shared with the team the work they do for the area, which has resulted in over 100 jobs created and millions in capital revenue for the region. Their commitment is to facilitate start-ups that have a connection to the Ag industry
