Midlands NAMA Focuses On Emerging Technology

The Midlands NAMA Chapter hosted a technology workshop at the Claas headquarters in Omaha on February 22nd.  The focus was business use of the iPad and considerations and experiences in creating iPad and phone apps.

Our speakers included Jon Stark from the Apple Store, who shared many business applications and creative apps., along with instructions and resources for iPad users.  Midlands NAMA members Kelly Cackin and Sara Sims from Valmont talked about how they are using the iPad for international sales, remote control of pivots, and marketing.  Sara shared her observations of how different companies used the iPad at the recent National Farm Machinery Show.

Mitch Herring, a member from the Brownfield Network, and Eric Marzen, a member from Successful Farming, talked about sales presentations using the iPad and research around farmer use of these new technologies.

Mary Rose Dwyer from Telvent DTN presented on how and why DTN built their iPad app.  Member Chet Slump from iNet Solutions talked about the considerations and hurdles that go into building phone and iPad apps.  Meeting attendees were eligible for a drawing for an iPad, which was won by Eric Pickett from Farmers National Company.
