From Pistols to Press Releases

FBI Special Agent, Jeff LanzaOver 40 MoKan members and guests attended the fall meeting, From Pistols to Press Releases: Communication Lessons from the Real World on Tuesday, October 14 at Starkers Reserve Restaurant on the Plaza.

MoKan hosted FBI Special Agent, Jeff Lanza who has been an FBI spokesperson during numerous cases, including; 9/11/01; the anthrax scare of 2001; and the Oklahoma City bombing.

In Kansas City, Lanza led the communications effort for the investigation of pharmacist, Robert Courtney, who was convicted of diluting the medications of thousands of patients.

In his presentation, Lanza chronicled failures of leadership, crisis communications, and digital theft. An FBI spokesperson trained in media relations, Lanza presented anecdotes from a career fighting crime that entertained attendees and sent a message on integrity that inspired all who attended.
